Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This mandatory Civil Aviation Safety Authority Airworthiness Directive requires owners/operators of certain 1978 Cessna 182 Skylane RG serials (R18200002–R18200281, with gaps) to inspect or replace the nose-wheel steering bungee boot per Cessna Service Letter SE78-37 within 100 flight hours after 30 September 1978. Despite the AD title, it applies only to those Cessna 182 aircraft.

It matters because the boot keeps dirt and moisture out of the steering mechanism; failure can cause jamming or loss of directional control during taxi, takeoff, or landing.
