AD/CESSNA 180/29 - Front Seat Restraint Installations - CANCELLED

What this is: A cancelled aviation safety rule (called an Airworthiness Directive or AD) that once applied to specific Cessna and Wren aircraft.

What it did: Originally issued in 1971, it required owners of Cessna 180, 182, and Wren 460 series aeroplanes (certified before 1967) to install upper torso restraints—essentially shoulder harnesses or safety belts with straps—for front seats.

Why it matters: This rule is no longer in force. It was cancelled in January 2008 and replaced by a broader safety directive (AD/GENERAL/74 Amendment 1) that covers shoulder harness requirements for a wider range of aircraft types. If you own one of these aircraft, you don't need to follow this specific rule anymore, but you must comply with the newer general directive instead.
