Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This legislation cancels an old aircraft safety rule from 1970 that required owners of specific Cessna aircraft (models 180, 182, and Wren 460) to replace faulty lock nuts.

What it does

Officially scraps Airworthiness Directive (AD) number 26, which mandated a one-time replacement of NAS 679 lock nuts installed during April–November 1969
States that the unsafe condition no longer exists because all the faulty nuts would have been replaced by now

Who it affects

Owners and operators of the affected Cessna aircraft series
Practically speaking, this removes a long-completed compliance obligation from the books

Why it matters

Cleans up the aviation safety regulations by removing obsolete requirements
Reduces regulatory clutter for aircraft maintenance records

Requirement:	CANCELLED.
This AD is cancelled on 14 February 2008.
Background:	This is a unique Australian AD issued in 1970 requiring a once off replacement of a number of NAS 679 lock nuts installed on Cessna aircraft between April and November in 1969. These nuts were suspected to have a manufacturing flaw. As all nuts would have now been replaced, the unsafe condition no longer exists.
