Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

A mandatory FAA Airworthiness Directive requires owners/operators of certain late‑1970s Cessna 177, F177RG, and 177RG aircraft to inspect brass AN‑155 turnbuckles for longitudinal cracks and, if needed, repair or replace them per Cessna Service Information Letter SE 80‑16. The inspection had to be completed within 100 flight hours after April 30, 1980. It prevents in‑flight turnbuckle failure that could lead to loss of control.
