AD/CESSNA 177/17 - Stabilator - CANCELLED

What this is: This document cancels an old aviation safety rule (called an Airworthiness Directive) that applied to specific Cessna 177 aircraft.

What the original rule required: Back in 1974, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) issued a directive requiring owners of certain Cessna 177 planes to inspect the stabilator (a moveable control surface on the tail that helps the plane climb and descend) within 100 flight hours after 31 December 1974. The inspection had to check the balance of this control surface according to manufacturer guidelines.

Why it's being cancelled: The deadline for that inspection was over 30 years ago. By 2008, every affected aircraft would have completed the required inspection long ago, so the rule was no longer necessary.

What happens now: As of 31 July 2008, the requirement no longer exists. Cessna 177 operators no longer need to track or comply with this specific directive.
