Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This directive requires owners/operators of certain Cessna 172-series aircraft (specific serial numbers listed) to inspect or replace potentially defective brass turnbuckles (AN 155) in flying control cable systems.

Following Cessna Service Information Letter SE80‑16, the inspection/replacement must be done within 100 flight hours after 30 April 1980 because longitudinal cracking in these turnbuckles can lead to in‑flight failure and loss of control.
