AD/CESSNA 170/26 - Front Seat Restraint Installation - CANCELLED

What this is: A cancelled safety rule for certain Cessna aircraft.

What it used to do: Originally issued in 1971, this directive required owners of Cessna 170, 172, F172, FR172, and 175 series planes (certified before 1967) to install upper torso restraints — essentially shoulder harnesses or seatbelts with shoulder straps — in the front seats.

What it does now: Nothing. This directive was cancelled on 17 January 2008 and is no longer in force.

Why it matters: If you own one of these aircraft, you no longer need to follow this specific rule. A newer, broader safety directive (AD/GENERAL/74 Amendment 1) now covers seat restraint requirements for all aircraft types instead.
