Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive requires owners/operators of Cessna 120 and 140 aeroplanes (serial numbers 8001–10209) to inspect the aileron support ribs for buckling or cracking and to replace any damaged ribs with specified Cessna parts (0422200-2 left, 0422200-3 right) that use thicker material and a shorter lightening hole. Inspections must be done within 100 hours or 12 months after 15 May 2003, repeated every 100 hours and after the aircraft is tied down in high winds without locked controls, until the replacement parts are fitted. The AD implements the FAA’s inspection requirement until modification.
