AD/CERES/5 Amdt 1 - Pilots Safety Harness Inertia Reel - Installation - CANCELLED

What this is: A cancellation notice for an old aircraft safety rule (called an Airworthiness Directive or AD).

What it used to require: Back in 1968, owners of C.A.C. CA-28 Ceres aircraft (agricultural planes) had to install inertia reels on pilot shoulder harnesses. An inertia reel is a device that lets the harness strap extend and retract like a seatbelt, but locks up during sudden stops.

Why it's cancelled: The deadline for making these changes was July 1968. By 2009, every affected aircraft had already been modified, so the rule served no further purpose.

Who this affects: Owners and operators of C.A.C. CA-28 Ceres series aeroplanes. However, since all aircraft were modified decades ago, this cancellation simply removes an obsolete requirement from the books.
