Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this does: This is a mandatory safety rule for owners and operators of Eurocopter BO 105 helicopters. It requires them to permanently remove specific helicopter parts from service once they reach a predetermined age or usage limit (called their "fatigue life").

Who it affects: Anyone who owns or operates any model of Eurocopter BO 105 series helicopters.

The requirement: Operators must retire (stop using) the components listed in the BO 105 Maintenance Manual, Volume 4, Chapter 101, Paragraph 101-9, Revision 10, at or before the time limits specified in that manual.

Why it matters: Helicopter parts weaken over time due to stress and vibration (metal fatigue). This rule prevents mechanical failures and crashes by ensuring old, worn-out parts are replaced before they can break.
