Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive requires owners/operators of specified Bell 222, 222B and 222U helicopters to complete the corrective actions in the relevant Bell Alert Service Bulletins before a Certificate of Airworthiness can be issued. It responds to a rod-end bearing failure that caused loss of tail-rotor directional control. CASA enforces compliance; operators bear the cost, downtime and parts/labor burden while the safety benefit accrues to operators and airspace users.
