Plain English Summary

4/10 complexity

Requires operators of Bell 222, 222B, 222U and 230 helicopters fitted with certain tail‑rotor blades to perform repetitive inspections (at intervals not exceeding three flight hours) and to remove and replace the listed blades with P/N 222-016-001-123 or -127 (or higher dash numbers) by 31 March 1997; installing the specified parts stops the inspection requirement. The measure responds to a reported in‑flight blade failure traced to fatigue cracking from sanding marks and shifts inspection, replacement and recordkeeping costs to operators and maintenance personnel.
