Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this does: This document officially cancels an old aviation safety rule.

Background: In 1989, the aviation regulator required owners of Bell 212 helicopters to perform a one-time inspection of a rotor component called the "pitch change link universal" (specifically looking for staking marks around bearing faces). All helicopters had to complete this inspection by 30 September 1989.

Why it matters: Because that deadline passed 20 years ago, every affected helicopter has already been inspected. The rule is now obsolete, so this document removes it from the books. The cancellation takes effect on 9 April 2009.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Bell 212 helicopters (though practically, they no longer need to worry about this specific inspection).
