Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive mandates a specific mechanical modification for certain Bell 212 helicopters after repeated cracking of the bolts joining the elevator to its horn—failures that can detach the elevator and risk fuselage or tail-rotor strikes and a crash. It applies to listed serial-numbered helicopters unless already fitted with the upgraded elevator and horn parts, and requires compliance with Bell Alert Service Bulletin 212-84-36 by the stated maintenance-date deadlines.
