Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This mandate requires owners/operators of Bell 212 helicopters in Australia to fit a protective fireshield (Bell Drawing No. 412-961-021 or Secretary‑approved equivalent) around the engine mount before a Certificate of Airworthiness is issued.

It’s intended to prevent heat damage to the engine mount if one engine catches fire, so the remaining engine stays aligned and the helicopter can continue to fly safely.
