Who it affects: Owners and operators of Bell 206L-1 helicopters with serial numbers between 45154 and 45610.

What you must do: Replace the Battery Relay Diode Assembly (part number 30-037-13). The technical details for the replacement are contained in Bell Helicopter Service Bulletin No. 206L-81-18 Rev. "A" (a manufacturer’s instruction manual).

Why it matters: These diode assemblies have been failing in flight, causing electrical wiring to burn and producing smoke in the cockpit — a serious fire hazard.

Deadline: The replacement must be completed within 100 hours of flight time after 30 June 1981.
