Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this does: Requires owners of specific Bell helicopters to check certain bolts that hold the tail section to the aircraft body.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Bell 206L and 206L-1 helicopters with serial numbers listed in Bell Technical Bulletin No. 206L-80-52.

What you must do: Inspect the pylon support retaining bolts (the large bolts that secure the tail boom structure to the helicopter body) within 100 hours of flying time after 30 November 1980.

Why this matters: The manufacturer discovered some helicopters were built with these bolts installed incorrectly. If these bolts fail during flight, the tail could separate from the aircraft, causing a crash.
