Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This directive requires operators of Bell 206 and Agusta Bell 206 helicopters with specified horizontal stabilizer part numbers to perform recurring visual inspections following Bell SB 206-01-73-7 (Rev E) or Agusta SB 206-75 (Rev B).

Inspections must be repeated at least every 25 hours time‑in‑service and continue even after approved repairs. The action corrects earlier part‑number errors and removes doubt about inspection requirements after defect reports from Australian operations.

Amdt 2

Horizontal Stabilizer 11/87

Applicability: All models with horizontal stabilizers P/N 206-020-119 (all dash numbers) and P/N 206-020-123-3, -4, -3C2 and -4C2.

Requirement: Visually inspect the horizontal stabilizer as described in Bell SB 206-01-73-7 (Revision E) Paragraph 2. Agusta SB 206-75 (Revision B) also refers.

Compliance: At intervals not exceeding 25 hours time in service.

Note: Stabilizers that have been repaired in accordance with the Requirement documents, still require the repetitive inspections in accordance with this Directive.

Background: This amendment corrects the part number applicability and, as a result of local defect experience, clarifies the repetitive inspection requirements for repaired stabilizers.
