Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This directive mandates safety actions for specific Bell 206A helicopters to prevent engine mount failure. Who it affects: Owners and operators of Bell 206A helicopters with serial numbers 4, 6–10, 12–26, 28–59, 61–79, 81–83, 86–91, 93–97, and 99–103. What you must do:

Inspect the forward engine mount attachment at least every 25 hours of flight time (time in service)
Modify the engine mount attachment by the specified deadline (1 August 1968), following the technical instructions in Bell Service Bulletin 206A-4A

Why it matters: The forward engine mount attachment can develop defects that could lead to catastrophic failure, potentially causing the engine to separate from the aircraft. This directive ensures critical safety checks and permanent corrective action are taken.
