Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this is: This is a safety order (technically called an Airworthiness Directive) issued by the aviation safety regulator for certain Bell helicopters. It mandates a specific mechanical fix to prevent control issues.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Bell 206A helicopters with serial numbers between 4 and 303 that are equipped with a "Stabilizator Control Augmentation System" (a stability control system).

What you must do: You must install a balance spring on the cyclic control system (the main control stick that pilots use to steer the helicopter). You must follow the instructions in Bell Service Letter 206A-104, Revision C, Part 1.

Deadline: This work had to be completed before 1 September 1971.

Good news: If your aircraft already complies with the earlier version of this directive, you don't need to do anything extra—it automatically meets this updated requirement.
