Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive mandates a safety inspection of main rotor blade retention bolts on specific early-model Bell helicopters.

Who must comply:

Operators of Bell 206A helicopters with serial numbers below 175
Operators of Agusta-Bell AB-206A helicopters with serial numbers below 8080
Holders of spare blade retention bolts part number 206-010-152-1

What you must do: Inspect these critical bolts—which secure the rotor blades to the helicopter mast—within 100 hours of flight time after 14 February 1969 (if already installed), or before installation (if fitting replacement bolts).

Why it matters: This is a mandatory safety requirement issued under civil aviation regulations to prevent catastrophic rotor blade failure. It enforces a manufacturer service bulletin that identified potential defects in these specific bolts. Non-compliance is a breach of aviation law.
