Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This is an Airworthiness Directive — a mandatory safety order issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) that legally requires aircraft owners to make specific repairs or modifications.

What it does: Orders the removal of landing gear spacers from Bell 206 helicopters fitted with a specific emergency float landing gear kit (part number 206-706-008).

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Bell Helicopter Textron Canada (BHTC) 206 and Agusta Bell 206 series helicopters equipped with that specific float gear kit.

What must be done: Operators must follow the procedure in Bell Service Letter No. 206A-78 to remove the spacers. This work had to be completed within 100 hours of flight time after 14 February 1969.

Why it matters: This directive addresses a specific safety issue with the landing gear configuration to ensure the helicopter remains airworthy and safe to operate.
