Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This AD requires operators of Bell 205A, A‑1 and B helicopters fitted with tail rotor grip P/N 205‑011‑711‑101 to clean the grip, check with a magnet that it is steel, and if it is not steel remove and replace it with a serviceable steel grip. Compliance is required before the next flight after 24 April 2002. CASA says the measure addresses FAA reports that time‑expired, life‑limited grips (P/N 204‑011‑728‑019) were misidentified and reinstalled; costs (inspection, replacement parts, downtime) fall on operators and enforcement is under CAR 1998 subreg 39.1(1).
