This Airworthiness Directive requires owners and operators of Bell 205 series helicopters to perform recurring inspections of the main rotor hub fitting assemblies per Bell Service Bulletin No. 205-77-1.

Inspections must occur at intervals not exceeding 1,000 flight hours (and, if fittings had already exceeded 1,000 hours before 1 March 1977, were to be inspected by that date and then every 1,000 hours). The rule prevents fatigue cracks that could cause catastrophic rotor failure.

Applicability: All models. Document: Bell SB No. 205-77-1.

Compliance: 1. For fittings which have achieved 1000 hours time in service, before 1 March 1977 and thereafter at intervals not exceeding 1000 hours time in service.

All other fittings, at intervals not exceeding 1000 hours time in service.
