Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This mandatory safety order requires owners/operators of Bell 204 helicopters fitted with tail rotor part 204-001-739-3 to inspect the tail rotor pitch change chain per FAA AD 76-12-07 immediately before the next flight after 10 Aug 2000 and every 25 flight hours thereafter.

It reinstates and narrows prior directives to cover a chain type previously omitted; failure or wear can cause loss of tail-rotor control and an uncontrollable spin, so compliance is critical for flight safety.
