What this does: This document officially cancels a 1971 aviation safety directive that required owners of older Beechcraft King Air aircraft (models 90 and 65-90 series certified before 1967) to install upper torso restraints (shoulder harnesses) for front seat occupants.

Why it matters: The original rule was introduced because these aircraft were built before shoulder harnesses were mandatory, and the harnesses significantly improve survival chances in crashes. This cancellation means the specific directive no longer applies as of 17 January 2008.
