Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this does: This is a mandatory safety order for specific Beechcraft Duchess aircraft (model 76, serial numbers ME-1 through ME-133). It requires aircraft owners to fix a dangerous fuel system flaw.

What must be done:

Replace the original fuel selector valves with an improved design
Install check valves at fuel tank outlets to prevent fuel from accidentally flowing between tanks (which could cause imbalance or fuel starvation)

How to comply: Follow the manufacturer's Service Instruction No. 1054. The work had to be completed before 1 October 1979.

Why it matters: The original valves were "unsatisfactory" (prone to failure), creating a safety risk. This directive prevents potential engine failure or loss of control due to fuel system malfunction.
