Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this does: This directive requires the installation of automatic shutoff valves on the autopilot systems of specific Beechcraft Queen Air aircraft.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of:

Beechcraft models 65-80, 65-A80, and 65-B80 with serial numbers before LD-291 (if fitted with H14 autopilot systems)
Models 65, 65-80, 65-A80, and 65-B80 with specific autopilot modification kits (Kit 65-19-3A before serial 114, or Kit 65-19-1A before serial 116)

What must be done: Install automatic pilot shutoff valves according to the manufacturer's instructions in Beechcraft Service Bulletin SB 66-4.

Why it matters: These valves act as a safety backup, ensuring pilots can immediately disconnect or shut down the autopilot if it malfunctions or fails to respond to manual commands. This prevents the aircraft from continuing on an unintended flight path if the automated system fails.
