Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this is: A mandatory safety order (called an airworthiness directive) for specific Beechcraft Queen Air aircraft.

The danger: The nose baggage compartment door on these planes can swing open during takeoff. This has caused fatal crashes overseas.

Who must act: Owners of specific Beechcraft models (Queen Air 65, A65, A65-8200, 65-80, 65-A80, 65-A80-8800, 65-B80, and model 70) with specific serial numbers listed in the document.

What must be done: Aircraft must be repaired or inspected according to the manufacturer's technical guide (Beechcraft Service Instruction No. 1181 Revision 1).

Deadline: The work must be finished within 300 flight hours after 31 August 1981.

Why it matters: This prevents potentially deadly accidents by ensuring the baggage door stays securely closed during flight.
