Plain English Summary

What this is: A mandatory safety order (Airworthiness Directive) from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority requiring a specific mechanical fix on certain aircraft.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of specific Beechcraft Queen Air aeroplanes:

Models 65 and A65-8200 with serial numbers L-1, L-2, L-6, and LC-1 through LC-286
Models 65-80, 65-A80, and 65-B80 with serial numbers LD-1 through LD-372

What you must do: Install protective covers on the starter and battery relays according to the manufacturer's instructions in Beechcraft Service Instruction No. 0135-355, Revision 1.

When: Within 100 hours of flight time after 24 October 1969.

Why it matters: This is a legally binding safety directive. The covers protect electrical components from damage or short-circuiting, which could cause fire or electrical failure during flight.
