Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This is a mandatory safety instruction (called an Airworthiness Directive) for specific Beechcraft aeroplanes.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Beechcraft 60 "Duke" aircraft with serial numbers P-1 through P-48 (but excluding P-43 and P-45).

What it requires: Before the aircraft can be issued a Certificate of Airworthiness (the legal document needed to fly), the owner must perform specific maintenance on the elevator and tab controls — these are the movable surfaces on the tail that control whether the plane climbs or dives. The work must follow the exact procedures in Beechcraft Service Instruction No. 0187-152.

Why it matters: This rule addresses potential mechanical defects in the flight control system that could compromise the pilot's ability to control the aircraft's pitch. No aircraft covered by this directive can legally fly until this work is completed.
