Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this is: This is an Airworthiness Directive—a mandatory safety rule issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) for specific Beechcraft Baron aircraft.

What it requires: Owners or operators of Beechcraft 95-55 and 95-A55 Baron aeroplanes with serial numbers TC-1 through TC-310 must take corrective action on the rudder torque tube. This component transmits control inputs from the rudder pedals to the rudder itself (the moving part on the tail that steers the aircraft left and right).

Specific action: Follow the instructions in Beechcraft Service Bulletin 95-55 No. 11 or 95-A55 No. 5. These are manufacturer-issued technical documents detailing the required inspection or repair procedure.

Deadline: You must complete this action within 200 hours of flight time ('time in service') counted from 1 September 1971.

Why it matters: This prevents potential failure of the rudder control system, which is essential for safe steering of the aircraft during flight.
