Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this directive does This airworthiness directive mandates a safety inspection and repair for the elevator control push rods—the metal rods that transmit the pilot’s control inputs to the tail surfaces that make the aircraft climb or descend.

Who it affects Owners and operators of Beechcraft 36 and A36 Bonanza aircraft with serial numbers E-1 through E-1335.

What you must do Carry out the actions specified in Beechcraft Service Instruction No. 1019 to address corrosion (rust) in these push rods. This work must be completed within 100 hours of flight time accumulated after 31 May 1980.

Why it matters Corrosion has been found in similar push rods on other Beechcraft models. If corrosion causes a push rod to fail, the pilot could lose control of the aircraft’s up-and-down movement, posing a serious crash risk.
