Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

What this does: This airworthiness directive mandates a safety inspection and potential repair of the pilot and co-pilot shoulder harnesses on specific Beechcraft F33A aircraft.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Beechcraft F33A model aeroplanes with serial numbers between CE-634 and CE-1536.

What the problem is: The shoulder harness "D" rings (metal connectors on the safety belts) may have been fitted with improper washers during manufacture or maintenance. A faulty harness could fail to restrain the pilot or co-pilot during an accident or emergency landing, increasing the risk of serious injury.

What must be done: Operators must follow the technical repair instructions outlined in the US Federal Aviation Administration directive AD 91-18-19 (Amendment 39-8022) to inspect and replace the defective components if necessary.

When: Australian registered aircraft must complete this work by 12 December 1991—a deadline extended by approximately two months from the original US requirement.
