What this does: This document officially cancels (revokes) a previous aviation safety rule called Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/BEECH 23/27.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Beechcraft 19, 23, and 24 series aeroplanes (small aircraft).

What the old rule required: The original directive required replacing aluminium end fittings on engine firewalls with steel ones by November 1975.

Why it matters: The old rule was unique to Australia and didn't match the safety requirements set by the country where the aircraft were originally designed. Since it's now obsolete, this cancellation removes the requirement entirely as of 17 January 2008. Aircraft owners no longer need to comply with the aluminium-to-steel fitting replacement rule.
