What it does
This Airworthiness Directive (AD/BEECH 1900/39 AC Inverters and Synchronisation Wire 4/2003) issued by a delegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) under subregulation 39.1(1) of the CAR 1998 requires inspections and, where necessary, modification of AC inverters and the AC inverter synchronisation wire shield on specified Beechcraft Model 1900D aeroplanes. The AD applies to three defined groups of Model 1900D aeroplanes by serial number ranges: Group 1 S/N UE-1 to UE-265; Group 2 S/N UE-266 to UE-388; Group 3 S/N UE-389 to UE-410 (Applicability). The directive is framed to identify whether KGS Electronics AC Inverters P/N SPC-10(PW), serial numbers 306 through 803, and installed configurations identified as Mod 2DD (or the presence of FAA STC SA00245WI-D in Group 1) are present, and to require modification where the relevant configuration or shielding is absent (Requirements 1-5).
Mechanically, the AD does the following: it requires an inspection per Raytheon Aircraft Service Bulletin SB 24-3215 Rev. 1 (June 2001) to determine whether a KGS SPC-10(PW) inverter with S/N 306-803 and modified identification Mod 2DD is installed (Requirement 1). If the inverter present is not Mod 2DD, the AD mandates installation of the AC inverter modification per SB 24-3215 Rev. 1 and the Model 1900D Airliner Maintenance Manual (AMM) before further flight after the inspection (Requirement 2). For Group 1 aeroplanes the AD adds an inspection to determine whether FAA Supplemental Type Certificate STC SA00245WI-D has been or is installed (Requirement 3) and, if it is installed, requires a synchronisation wire shield modification before further flight (Requirement 4). For Group 2 the sync wire shield modification is required regardless (Requirement 5). The AD also establishes prohibitions: any KGS SPC-10(PW) with S/N 306-803 that is not identified as Mod 2DD may not be installed as a replacement part (Requirement 6), and FAA STC SA00245WI-D may not be incorporated into any Group 1 aeroplane unless the sync wire shield modification required by Requirement 4 has been accomplished (Requirement 7).
