Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

Requires operators of certain Boeing 767 aeroplanes (specified line positions) to replace aluminium brake metering valve module shafts with steel shafts, following Boeing Service Bulletin 767-32-0081. The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) mandates the change and sets the deadline: within 750 landings after 12 July 1990 or before the aircraft reaches 15,000 landings, whichever is later (Applicability; Requirement; Compliance). The measure assigns the replacement and its costs to operators and aims to prevent potential braking loss identified after shaft fractures on 757s (Background).

157, and 159-161.

Compliance: Within 750 landings after 12 July 1990 or prior to the accumulation of 15,000 landings, whichever occurs later.
