Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This AD requires operators of Boeing 767s with General Electric CF6‑80C2 engines to modify both engine core cowl assemblies per Boeing Service Bulletin 767‑71‑0088 and bans installation of two specified aluminium core cowl part numbers. CASA’s delegate set firm compliance deadlines (modification by 24 Sep 2004; parts prohibition six months after the AD) to address a risk that an engine fire could open and detach a core cowl and its strut fire barrier in flight.
