Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive requires Boeing 767‑200 aeroplanes modified by FAA STC SA4998NM to rewire their in‑flight entertainment (IFE) systems so the IFE draws power from the utility electrical bus instead of the main bus, per Flight Structures SB 89FS134‑23‑01 Rev 2. Operators must complete the modification within 18 months and may not install IFE under that STC unless the modification is made. CASA says the change ensures crew can remove IFE power in non‑normal or emergency situations to help control smoke or fumes.
