Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This directive requires operators of Boeing 767s (line positions 1–177) to carry out inspections and corrective work on side‑of‑body kick‑load fitting H‑11 tension bolts, following the technical requirements of FAA AD 99‑19‑29 and Boeing Service Bulletin 767‑57A0064 Rev 1. CASA mandates initial, repetitive and a final terminating action to prevent stress‑corrosion cracking that could compromise the wing‑to‑body joint.

It affects aircraft operators, maintenance organisations and parts suppliers, who bear inspection and repair costs and may face aircraft downtime; completing the terminating action ends repetitive inspections.

Applicability: Model 767 series aircraft, line positions 1 through 177.

Requirement: Action in accordance with the technical requirements of FAA AD 99-19-29 Amdt 39- 11316.

Note: Boeing Service Bulletin 767-57A0064 Revision 1 refers.

Compliance: As specified in the Requirement document for the initial and repetitive inspections, and final terminating action; with a revised effective date of 30 December 1999.

Background: The FAA received a report of two broken H-11 tension bolts found on the side-of- body kick-load fitting on one aircraft.
