Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This airworthiness directive requires operators and maintenance organisations of all Boeing 747 models to inspect fuel-system areas for leaks, verify and clear vent/drain paths, clean mating surfaces, tighten specified bolts, inspect engine struts, and check overwing filler caps and lanyards. CASA issues the directive and sets the compliance deadline; operators pay for inspections, repairs and any part replacements. Mechanically, it forces specific inspection, cleaning, verification and torque actions intended to prevent fuel accumulation and leakage.
