Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This directive requires Boeing 747s fitted with certain B.F. Goodrich evacuation slides/slide‑rafts to be retrofitted per the referenced B.F. Goodrich service bulletins by 31 March 1986. It aims to restore reliable slide/raft inflation after reported failures and notes a corresponding FAA AD.

Owners/operators must schedule and pay for the modifications (labour, parts, shop time) and follow the service‑bulletin procedures; compliance timing and reliance on those bulletins are the principal operational and implementation risks.
