Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This directive changes the Aircraft Flight Manual emergency procedure for certain Boeing 747 models so that when the cabin altitude warning horn sounds crew must set oxygen masks and regulators to ON, 100% — replacing a step previously limited to rapid depressurisation above 14,000 ft. It applies to the listed 747 series; operators must insert the Directive into the AFM and comply by 20 June 2003. Operators bear the task (and any minor administrative or training cost) of updating the AFM and ensuring crew follow the revised procedure.
