Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

What it does: Requires operators of Boeing Model 747 aircraft (line numbers 1–685) to carry out the inspections set out in FAA AD 2000-24-07 (Amdt 39-12014), with an effective date of 22 March 2001.

Why it matters: CASA adopted that FAA inspection because reports showed cracking in the forward edge frame of Main Entry Door 1 that could lead to rapid decompression. Operators must fund and schedule the inspections and any repairs and comply with the FAA AD’s technical steps and timing (Applicability; Requirement; Compliance; Background).
