Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This directive requires operators of Boeing 747s fitted with certain escape slide/raft firing lanyards (those manufactured before January 1979) to inspect those assemblies for corrosion or fraying. An initial inspection must be done by 1 June 1980 if not already completed, with recurring inspections at intervals not exceeding one year. It affects operators and maintenance organisations (who bear inspection and repair costs) and points them to FAA/Boeing/B.F. Goodrich service guidance for procedures.
