Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

Operators of Boeing 747s (line numbers 1–685) must perform eddy‑current inspections of the edge frame web and doubler at the No.1 main entry door cutout per FAA AD 99‑07‑03, initially and at repetitive intervals (effective 15 July 1999). Completing Boeing ASB 747‑53A2414 repair/modification for that structure terminates the recurring inspections. The directive shifts inspection/repair costs and downtime to aircraft owners/operators and requires qualified personnel and equipment to detect fatigue cracks.
