This Airworthiness Directive requires operators of Boeing 747s (line positions 001–1150) fitted with Lear Romec APU fuel boost pumps P/N RR24640B to replace those pumps before 27 July 1999 with either a pump reworked per Boeing Service Bulletin 747-28A2209 Rev 1 or an approved non‑Lear Romec pump; un‑reworked RR24640B pumps may not be installed after the directive’s effective date. The directive aims to prevent fuel leakage, electrical arcing at the connector, and possible fuel fires. Operators bear replacement/rework costs and must choose rework or approved suppliers.
