Plain English Summary

5/10 complexity

This directive requires operators of certain Boeing 747-100/200/300 and SP aeroplanes with triple‑channel autoland systems to install diodes and markers, make wiring changes per specified Boeing Alert Service Bulletins, and carry out operational tests initially and every 20,000 flight hours. Operators must comply by 31 December 1997 and may apply to CASA to remove temporary AFM limitations. It is intended to ensure flightcrew are alerted if the autoland mode changes from fail‑operational to fail‑passive during landing; operators bear the modification, testing and administrative costs.
