Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This directive requires operators of Boeing 747-100 (non‑SP) aircraft to perform visual and ultrasonic inspections of the wing front spar (stations 570–684) per Boeing SB 747‑57A2266 Rev 4, prompted by a reported spar crack that could cause fuel leaks and fire. Initial and recurring intervals apply, but replacing fasteners per the service bulletin cancels the recurring inspections. Operators bear inspection, repair or replacement costs, and must plan downtime and qualified ultrasonic capability.
