Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This directive requires operators of Boeing 737 aircraft to inspect the cables that release emergency escape slides.

What must be done:

Visually inspect each escape slide release cable
Immediately replace any cables that are frayed (have broken strands) or completely broken
The aircraft cannot fly again until damaged cables are replaced

Why this matters: Damaged release cables can prevent escape slides from detaching from the door during an emergency evacuation. This could block exits and trap passengers inside the aircraft during a fire or other emergency.

Who must comply: All operators of Boeing 737 series aircraft registered in Australia.
